about

In my own words...

The war on drugs as applied to cannabis evolved into a cheap excuse for overzealous cops to bust the skulls of harmless people. Any law that outlaws weed production, consumption, or distribution is egregiously unconstitutional. Weed to me has always been the messenger of peace, harmless.

Our story starts in the 1980s. Hailing back to when weed was still illegal and local law enforcement treated cannabis the same way they do hard drugs. At the time, US cannabis laws made outlaws out of everyone. Some good times and colorful people whose stories needed to be told. I can remember New York state police choppers scouring mountains along the Vermont border for contraband. I could drive across the Vermont border and buy alcohol cause the drinking age was still 18, but weed was still something only delinquents smoked. Summer's good time stages were set by a close friend who had garbage bags of spectacular weed.

A friend with weed is a friend indeed.

lyrics

LYRICS:

Sometimes you play a hand and it turns it all upside down
I've got a real bad feeling that they're coming for me now
Said don't you hear the tires burning up to the house
Hear them call my name but I just can't go

Don't you know I've got to lay down low
Don't you know I've got to lay down low
Lay down low, lay down low

A rendezvous arranged by cell got the marker placed
I hear them at the front door I leave as I hear it break
Veiled by the darkened shadow I make a slow retreat
All those fools a chasing think they're in the know

Slipped past in the night just to lay down low
Slipped past in the night just to lay down low
Lay down low, lay down low
Slipped past in the night just to lay down low

Once again, I'm running like the Devil in the dark of night
Kill the lights my friend and throw it into four-wheel drive
These woods and roads I've known just about all of my life
This here truck can motor but it goes too slow

Don't you know I've got to lay down low
Lord, don't you know I've got to lay down low
Lay down low, lay down low
Don't you know I've got to lay down low

Sometimes you play a hand and nothing ends turning right
But just past the state line, there's an airstrip dark as night
Gotta, load the cargo, sit back as we take flight
Jet plane take me to where I want to go

Because I got to leave the ground so I can lay down low
I said I got to leave the ground so I can lay down low
Lay down low, lay down low
I got to leave the ground so I can lay down low

Got to leave the ground behind
Got to leave
Got to kiss the sky
